Miss Kit

Kit Tamaki began dancing at the age of three and quickly discovered a lifelong passion for the art. By age eleven, she found her true love in ballet and began her intensive training at the New Jersey School of Ballet. During this time, she expanded her studies through prestigious summer programs at the School of American Ballet, Joffrey Ballet School, and the Kirov Academy, where she was offered a full-time position in their year-round training program. She also competed in the renowned Youth America Grand Prix, qualifying for the National Finals in New York City.

Kit has trained under many respected instructors, including Carolyn Tener Brown, Diane Orio Gerberg, Elaine Kudo, Natasha Girshov, Lynn Grossman, and Eleanor D’Antuono. She went on to enjoy a professional performing career with companies such as Ballet Austin, Evergreen City Ballet, New Jersey Ballet, and Ballet Neo, performing in celebrated works including The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Who Cares, and Suite for Six.

Kit joined the faculty of Dance Expression Dance Arts in 2008 and immediately fell in love with the students, families, and supportive community. Over the years, she has developed a strong and respected ballet curriculum, earning recognition at competitions for her dancers’ technique and artistry, while inspiring a genuine love of dance in students of all ages. In addition to teaching all levels of ballet and lyrical, she has choreographed extensively for the Performance Company and served as office manager.

Today, Kit proudly serves as Co-Owner and Director of Dance Expression Dance Arts—a role she holds close to her heart. She is dedicated to continuing the legacy established by Miss Lisa and is passionate about ensuring that every dancer has the opportunity to experience the beauty, discipline, and magic of ballet.

Outside of the studio, Kit is also a proud mom of two, both of whom love dancing at DEDA. Sharing her passion for dance with her children is incredibly special and inspires her every day.
